For coin collectors the Australian penny is a worthy set to peruse. Although most of these coins are obtainable there will only ever be six people holding the illusive 1930 Australian penny.

Though Australia could have introduced it's own currency any time after federation it was not until 1911 that the first penny was produced. These were minted overseas and shipped to Australia

A 1911 Australian penny was made in large numbers keeping it fairly inexpensive for today's collector.
